The Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan back in the year 2021 sets the stage for Kabul, a gripping geopolitical thriller mini-series. After making its World Premiere at the Series Mania festival in Lille in March 2025, the French-English series is set to make its OTT debut in India on Lionsgate Play and OTTplay Premium.
The English series Kabul, by a French production, is coming on Lionsgate Play and OTTplay Premium on June 20, 2025. Interestingly, Indian viewers will be able to watch the mini-series in English and Hindi. Co-directed by Kasia Adamik and Olga Chajdas, Kabul stars Shervin Alenabi, Thibault Evrard, Vassilis Kukalani, Jeanne Goursaud, Gianmarco Saurino, Valentina Cervi, and Eric Dane in pivotal roles. The series features Jonathan Zaccaï as a French diplomat.
Inspired by producer Fabienne Servan-Schreiber's personal experience in the chaotic evacuation efforts, this six-part series offers an intimate look at the complexities of the situation, bringing the story to life with depth and nuance.
The drama unfolds against the backdrop of the Taliban taking over Kabul, Afghanistan, in August 2021, focusing on a family and various European agents amid the chaos and evacuation efforts. The series explores the experiences of the Nazany family, who find themselves targeted by the Taliban and their struggles to navigate the rapidly changing situation.
Simultaneously, the series navigates the efforts of different European individuals, including a French security chief, an Italian attaché, and a German soldier, as they try to manage the crisis and ensure the safety of those they are responsible for.
While you wait to watch Kabul on June 20, check out other thriller series from across the globe such as Rachel Keller's Tokyo Vice, Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock, Hailey Kilgore's Power Book 3: Raising Kanan, Sarah Parish's Curfew, Souheila Yacoub's No Man's Land, and more that are available on Lionsgate Play and OTTplay Premium.
