Ahead of the release, Kabzaa boasted a great change of scoring big at the box office

Kabzaa continues to trend on social media but for a mixed bag of reasons. Ahead of the release of the film, which occurred on March 17th, netizens showed a lot of excitement over what it had in store but many of them were irked by the lack of any substantial publicity from the makers' end. The advance bookings, too, reflected this with the pre-release ticket sales yielding underwhelming results and ending short of the Rs. 3 crore mark.
The Kannada version (also the original) of Kabzaa, as per reports, has been the biggest contributor to the Rs. 2.7 crores advance booking collections, with the Hindi and Telugu versions too chipping in small capacities. What was initially billed as the next KGF, Kabzaa has certainly failed to live up to the expectations.
As far as the opening day box office collections are concerned, we are informed by sacnilk.com that the film is expected to close Day #1 at Rs. 10 crores. These are early predictions, mind you, and the figures are subject to change during the remainder of the day but should the estimates come true, one can assert that Kabzaa is off to a slightly disappointing start.
OTTplay had appraised the film to hold a great chance of scoring big on the opening day of its release, with benchmarks set by films like Vikrant Rona, KGF: Chapter 1, and James seemingly in its grasp. Had the critical and audience reviews been more favourable, Kabzaa certainly boasted the opportunity of delivering much better results as far as the box office is concerned.
Aside from a few ardent fans who have hailed the film as an equivalent of KGF, the general word about Kabzaa has been quite negative. OTTplay's review, which comes in agreement with the majority, highlights writer-director R. Chandru's tedious approach to putting the film together and pulls him up on his blatantly lifting the KGF sensibility.
