Tamil star Ravi Mohan kicked off a promising 2025 with a feel-good romantic drama titled Kadhalikka Neramillai, which also has Nithya Menen in the lead. The film, which was released in theatres on January 14 and had a short theatrical run, is now streaming on Netflix in four languages – Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam.

Directed and written by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, the movie has music composed by AR Rahman and revolves around in vitro fertilization, a topic that hasn’t been addressed too often in Tamil cinema.

Kadhalikka Neramillai out on OTT: Where to watch the movie?

The film has Nithya essaying the role of an architect named Shriya, who wants a perfect life – with a trustworthy partner and children. But she soon realizes that her partner has been cheating on her. Meanwhile, Ravi essays a structural engineer named Siddharth who doesn’t believe in taking up any additional stresses in his life – be it marriage or children. Shriya's plans to get pregnant through IVF coincide with the time Siddharth decides to donate his sperm. What follows are events that bring the unlikely couple together.

The movie also has Ravi Mohan, John Kokken, Lal, Mano, Yogi Babu, Vinay Rai, and TJ Bhanu, of Guns and Gulaabs fame. Kadhalikka Neramillai marks Netflix’s first big Tamil release this year. The streaming platform had also premiered Pushpa 2: The Rise a fortnight ago.

Reasons to watch Kadhalikka Neramillai

Though the critics weren’t impressed by the flat storytelling and the predictable narrative of the film, the performances of the lead actors – Ravi Mohan and Nithya Menen – were appreciated.

Some audiences also found that the storyline, which tries to make a “modern love story” out of elements like IVF and addresses the problems of today’s urban couple, was relatable. If you are in the mood for a light film this Valentine’s weekend, then Kadalikka Neramillai might just fit the bill.
