Actor Mikail Gandhi, who in the recent past appeared in various web series, now plays the main protagonist in the latest released show, Kafas.
The story of the show revolves around a child actor named Sunny who gets sexually abused by a superstar of his film during the shooting, but his parents put him under pressure not to talk about the crime in return for money.
Working on such a serious story and character was certainly not easy for the young actor.
Recalling the first interaction with the entire cast, Mikail told OTTplay, "Before the first day of shooting, I can recall the first day of reading when we were introducing each other and I met everyone...like Sharman sir, Mona ma'am, and all our co-actors. Throughout those sessions and constant interaction, we developed a bond that eventually levelled up our performances. I understood my character much better. Then I remember my first day of shooting, where we shot the school scene where Sunny is going to school after coming back from Sri Lanka, and he was going through so much in his mind. That day of shooting somewhere set the tone of the show for me. I learned a lot of things that day."
Asked if the intense performance took a toll on him mentally, the young actor said, "I think more than the emotional toll, there was a lot of physical toll on me. Since my schoolwork was also going on simultaneously and I was not getting enough sleep, I was a bit exhausted. When it comes to understanding the character of Sunny, since he is my age, I was getting it better, and then I also had a lot of conversations with Sahil sir, the writers, and the ADs. So those conversations made me understand who Sunny is and how he reacts in a situation the way he did. So everything somewhere infused itself in me, and then I played the character, and eventually I discovered who Sunny is."
The show Kafas, also starring Mona Singh and Sharman Joshi, is an Indian adaptation of the British Show Dark Money, streaming on SonyLiv.
