Kajol is all set to be seen as a dedicated mother who goes all out to protect her daughter from an evil spirit in the upcoming mythological horror film, Maa. Amid this, Kajol earlier said that Ramoji Rao Studios in Hyderabad is considered one of the most haunted places in the world, and her comment went viral on social media. Now, on June 23, the actress took to her social media account and addressed her remark and clarified her earlier statement.
Addressing her previous remark, Kajol wrote on her X (Twitter) account, "I wish to address my earlier remark about Ramoji Film City in the context of promoting my film MAA. I have filmed multiple projects at Ramoji Film City and stayed there many times over the years. I have always found it to be a very professional environment for filmmaking and I have seen so many tourists enjoying themselves. It’s a great destination and absolutely safe for families and children."
For the uninitiated, recently, Kajol was asked if she ever felt negative energy while shooting. She told Galtta Plus that she has experienced this multiple times.
"Call it negative energy or vibes, but sometimes, when you go to a place, you feel like something isn’t right. I’ve shot at places where I couldn’t sleep all night, where I felt it would be good if I could just leave this place," she said.
Citing the example of Ramoji Film City, Kajol further added that there are quite a few places like that and said, "A prime example is Ramoji Rao Studios in Hyderabad, which is considered one of the most haunted places in the world. I am lucky enough not to have seen anything (ghosts), though.”
As soon as her comment went viral on social media, netizens slammed the actress for her statement.
Maa is directed by Vishal Furia and is part of the same universe as the film Shaitaan starring Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and R. Madhavan.
Maa stars Kajol, Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Kherin Sharma, Jitin Gulati, and others. The plot of the mythological horror film follows Kajol playing a mother who must protect her daughter from a demonic curse. The story revolves around a road trip that turns into a nightmare when they encounter a cursed village and a centuries-old demonic legend. Kajol's character becomes a fierce protector, channeling the wrath of Goddess Kali to save her daughter.
Meanwhile, Maa is all set to be released in theaters on June 27.
