Almost five years after Helicopter Eela 2018, Kajol came to Kolkata. This time, it was a promotional trip for Revathi’s Salaam Venky. Along with the actress and the director, Vishal Jethwa also attended the promotional press conference in the City Of Joy. The film will hit the theatre on December 9.

Based on Shrikant Murthy’s The Last Hurrah, the film tells a real-life story of a young man Venkatesh, who suffers from DMD, and his mother Sujatha. DMD or Duchenne muscular dystrophy erodes muscles and there is not much cure available for it. Kajol, who plays Sujatha in the film, said, “It is a great responsibility actually if you are playing a real-life character. You have to justify the character. If I have to live with the film, so does Sujatha. It is not something you can gloss over or take many cinematic liberties. Our biggest test will be when Sujata walks into the theatre to watch the film and gives passing marks.

Presented by Connekkt Media and produced by Suuraj Sinngh, Shraddha Agrawal, and Varsha Kukreja under the banner BLIVE Productions and RTAKE Studios, Salaam Venky is directed by Revathy and is set to release in cinemas on December 9.
