The film marks Hindi directorial debut of filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar.
Another horror comedy is making its way in Bollywood and it's produced by Ronnie Screwvala's home banner RSVP Movies. The film stars Riteish Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem as protagonists and marks the Bollywood debut of Marathi filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar. Titled Kakuda, the film has gone on floors on Tuesday in Mumbai. The makers shared a photo from the sets in which the actors are posing with the director.
While sharing the photo, RSVP tweeted, "Triple trouble on the way! Get ready for a spooktacular - laughter riot with our homegrown direct to digital film, #Kakuda! The shoot begins today."
Talking about the premise of Kakuda, the film explores the legend of a strange curse in a village stuck in time. The trio will encounter a challenging ghost who makes them question their thoughts on superstition, tradition and even love.
In a statement, Sonakshi shared her excitement for the horror-comedy by saying, "Considering the current situation, a fun comedy film is truly the need of the hour."
The actor revealed that she loved the script of the film the moment she read it and it's that kind of a movie which she enjoys watching as an audience.
Riteish revealed that he is a huge fan of this genre and can't wait to be a part of the film based on ghostbusters.
While Saqeeb added, "A great script, a gifted director, a supportive producer and supremely talented co-stars what more can one ask for in a film?"
Kakuda is set to be an OTT release and will stream in 2022. The film will be extensively shot in different parts of Gujarat.
Interestingly, Sonakshi is currently gearing up for her debut OTT release which is Bhuj: The Pride of India which will be out on Disney+ Hotstar. The film will drop in August this year.
