Kalaga Thalaivan to be an action entertainer, not a political drama, says director Magizh Thirumeni

Filmmaker Magizh Thirumeni clarified that his upcoming movie Kalaga Thalaivan will be an action entertainer and not a political drama. Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's son and a member of the state Legislative Assembly, will play the lead role in the movie.

Speaking to the press, Magizh said, “Many people seem to have the opinion that Kalaga Thalaivan will be a political entertainer, but the fact is that this will be an action entertainer. This film is not about a guy getting into politics and reforming society.”

The filmmaker, who is known for his critically acclaimed films such as Thadam and Thadaiyara Thaakka, said that the unit has completed work on the entire film. “Post-production is going on in full swing and the film is on the verge of being completed."

The film’s title, Kalaga Thalaivan led fans to believe that it would be a political thriller. Magizh added, “Kalagam has many equivalents in English. The one that we think will be the most appropriate translation for our Kalaga Thalaivan would be 'rebel leader’.” The theatrical release date of this one is yet to be announced.

We hear Nidhhi Aggarwal is playing the female lead in this Udhayanidhi-starrer. Also, she will dub for her character. This is director Magizh’s fifth Tamil film; he previously worked as an assistant director to directors Selvaraghavan and Gautham Vasudev Menon.

Further, Udhayanidhi has Maamannan under the direction of Mari Selvaraj and the newly announced film under the production of Kamal Haasan. Apart from Vikram, Udhayanidhi Stalin and Kamal worked together way back in 2011 for Manmadhan Ambu, which was produced by Red Giant Movies. The production firm recently celebrated in Chennai to mark its 15th year in the business. Kamal Haasan announced at the event that Udhayanidhi will play the lead in Raaj Kamal Films International's 54th production venture. Other details about the project, such as the director's name, were not revealed.

Raaj Kamal Films, notably, is simultaneously producing a Sivakarthikeyan-Sai Pallavi starrer. Rangoon fame Rajkumar Periasamy is directing it, which is yet to be named.
