Kalam: Dhanush's biopic on Indian scientist and former president, Abdul Kalam, was unveiled at Cannes Film Festival

Actor-filmmaker Dhanush will be starring in the upcoming biopic of Indian scientist and former late President Abdul Kalam. The announcement was made by the makers on Wednesday night, with the title poster being unveiled at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.
Actor Dhanush who previously announced that he will be starring in Ilaiyaraaja’s biopic, has announced a yet another project in which he will be playing a prominent India personality. On Wednesday night, it was announced that the Thiruchitrambalam actor will be starring in and as Abdul Kalam in a film directed by filmmaker Om Raut. Titled Kalam, the film is produced By Abhishek Agarwal, Anil Sunkara, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar.
The title poster of the film was unveiled at Cannes Film Festival. The poster showed the silhouette of Dhanush as we see a rocket/ missile being launched. The National Award-winning actor Dhanush, known for his powerful and nuanced performances, is set to portray India’s beloved former President and eminent scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in a forthcoming biopic.

Titled Kalam, with the tagline "The Missile Man of India", the film aims to celebrate the extraordinary life and legacy of Dr. Kalam, whose contributions to India’s space and defense programs continue to inspire millions. Details regarding the rest of the cast and crew will be announced soon.
Meanwhile, Dhanush, who was last seen in his own directorial Raayan, has a slew of projects lined up. His next release is with Love Story director Sekhar Kammula titled Kuberaa. The film will release on June 20. The actor will also be starring in his own direction, Idly Kadai, which will release on October 1. The Aadukalam actor had also announced a new film with Mari Selvaraj and is scheduled to do a biopic on music composer Ilaiyaraaja with Arun Matheswaran. However, the development on the latter is yet to be made.
