Kalamkaval box office collection day 4: Iconic Malayalam actor Mammootty stamped his dominance at the cinemas with his latest film, Kalamkaval. The Jithin K Jose directorial has been performing strongly at the box office. Within just four days, the Mammootty film has beaten Sandeep Pradeep’s Eko and is all set to notch up its first milestone of Rs 50 crore.

The Malayalam film Kalamkaval, which released in theatres on December 5, 2025, opened with a solid Rs 5 crore at the box office, as per trade tracker Sacnilk. A slow-burn thriller, also starring actor Vinayakan, Kalamkaval continued to dominate the ticket window, raking in Rs 5.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 6 crore on Sunday. All eyes were on how the film would perform on its first Monday at the box office, and there are no surprises here as Kalamkaval passed the test with flying colours, making Rs 2.9 crore on day 4. This takes Kalamkaval’s India Malayalam net collection to Rs 19.4 crore, and the overall worldwide collection to Rs 47.4 crore. With the film not slowing down on working days and good word of mouth publicity, Kalamkaval looks on course to break into Rs 50 crore club in the next one or two days.

The film, which chronicles the modus operandi of a serial killer, has already beaten the other successful Malayalam film, Eko, starring Sandeep Pradeep. Another recent slow-burn thriller, Eko has made Rs 43.9 crore at the worldwide box office. Dinjith Ayyathan has directed this film, marking his third collaboration with writer-DOP Bahul Ramesh.

Kalamkaval has already become the third-highest opener in Malayalam cinema this year after Empuraan and Thudarum and with the fourth-highest opening weekend collection.

Mammootty’s third release of the year, has already outperformed the box office numbers of Bazooka and Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse which did not match up to the expectations, despite featuring big names such as Tamil actor-filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon.
