Kalamkaval on OTT: Mammootty’s only hit film of 2025 fails to break Rs 100-crore jinx of megastar; what’s the final box office collection

Iconic Malayalam actor Mammootty once again impressed audiences as he turned into a devilish serial killer in his latest film Kalamkaval. Viewers applauded the megastar’s bold choice and the thrilling tone of the film, which became Mammootty’s only hit of 2025. Despite this, Kalamkaval failed to break the Rs 100 crore jinx of Mammootty, who is yet to touch the coveted three-figure mark. Here’s a look at Kalamkaval’s final box office collection.

What is the total collection of Kalamkaval

The 2025 Malayalam film Kalamkaval, starring Mammootty along with Vinayakan in the lead roles, recorded a total box office collection of Rs 81.9 crore, as per trade tracker Sacnilk. The film, helmed by Jithin K Jose in his directorial debut, released in theatres on December 5 and made Rs 5 crore on opening day. The Malayalam thriller performed consistently well for the next 10 days when it grossed Rs 2 crore or above. The Mammootty-starrer recorded the highest collection on day 3 when it made Rs 6 crore.

Kalamkaval collected Rs 43.65 crore in India gross collection and Rs 38.25 crore in the overseas collection during its nearly one month theatrical run, as per the Sacnilk website, which termed it as a superhit.

Mammootty’s highest-grossing film is the popular movie Bheeshma Parvam, which made Rs 88.2 crore, as per Sacnilk. Amal Neerad helmed the film, which presented Mammootty as Michaelappan and his dialogue of 'Champiko' while taking a group photo went viral. Despite the popularity of the movie, Bheeshma Parvam did not break into the Rs 100-crore club.

Kalamkaval, starring Mammotty, will release on SonyLiv via OTTplay Premium on January 16, 2026. The Malayalam film will be available in other language options too, including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
