The teaser of Malayalam megastar Mammootty’s upcoming film Kalamkaval has been unveiled. Helmed by debutante Jithin K Jose, Kalamkaval features Mammootty in a negative role along with Vinayakan. Notably, Kalamkaval marks Mammootty's grand return to the big screens as the veteran actor has been away from the public eye, owing to health issues.

Kalamkaval is an upcoming Malayalam film, starring Mammootty in the lead role. The teaser has been revealed along with Kalyani Priyadarshan's Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, an Onam release, on August 28, 2025. The teaser begins with someone knocking on the door, and a question of ‘Neenge Aru’ (Who are you is asked in Tamil). 

We then see Azees Nedumangad playing a cop, and making enquiries about a particular person, named Nathu. Vinayakan, who plays the other lead role in the Mammootty-starrer, makes an appearance, looking grim. He appears to be in an officer role, as we see cops making investigations and a scooter-jeep collision. The teaser then cuts to show Mammootty, standing tall next to a wayside shop. 

The megastar has a devilish smile on his face as he raises his sunglasses and looks directly at the camera, with an unlit cigarette in his mouth. The less-than-1-minute teaser has a haunting background score attached to it, adding another layer of intrigue to the short glimpse. The ominous tone and tense settings promise an edgy thriller is on the cards. Mammootty is said to be playing a negative role in the film, which is based on a real-life criminal.

Kalamkaval is expected to release in early October, though the makers have not given a confirmation on this. Expectations are high about the upcoming Malayalam film as it marks Mammootty's return to the big screen after a hiatus. The teaser has added to the excitement, with fans thrilled to see Mammootty and that too in a villainous avatar.
