Filmmaker Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2024. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone, the mythological sci-fi epic shattered several box office records. Now, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan is reportedly ready for Kalki 2's shoot. According to a recent media report, the veteran actor is expected to commence shooting in May. He recently completed shooting for Kaun Banega Crorepati 16.
Amitabh Bachchan to begin Kalki 2 in May?
According to Mid-Day, Amitabh Bachchan's screen time has been increased in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. "He begins shooting in May, and his screen time has been increased. Filming is expected to continue till June 15, and following that, Amitabh is expected to kick off the next season of KBC in July. The next edition of the quiz show airs in August," a source revealed.
The source further mentioned that Kalki 2 will be grander than its first installment. The sequel will feature Prabhas and Sr Bachchan's characters confronting Kamal Haasan's Yaskin. Moreover, the film might highlight Prabhas and Big B's role in rescuing Deepika Padukone aka Sumanthi's unborn child.

And while a month of Kalki 2's shoot was done last year, some action portions are pending to be shot. "As Bachchan plays an immortal being from the Indian mythological epic Mahabharata, he will also be seen doing more action with weapons. They will shoot on the outskirts of Hyderabad, where a massive set has been constructed. The first film was shot in Shankarpally," the source added.
For those unaware, Amitabh Bachchan played the role of Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin's film. Prabhas, on the other hand, was seen as Bhairava and Karna. Kalki 2898 AD's star cast also included Disha Patani, Anna Ben, Shobana and others.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan recently wrapped the 16th edition of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16. All episodes of the show are available for streaming on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium.
