Kalki 2898 AD, the futuristic sci-fi film directed by Nag Ashwin will have its global release on June 27, 2024. Recently, the makers released The Kalki Chronicles Part 1, a special video in which the cast members are seen having a chat with producers Swapna and Priyanka Dutt. In the video, Kamal Haasan revealed how director Nag Ashwin convinced him to sign the film, and this backstory has an Amitabh Bachchan connection.

The veteran actor, who is impressed with how the magnum opus has come out, stated that it is extremely tough to pull off films of such a massive scale. According to Kamal Haasan, he never fully trusts what a director shows him with the concept designs and story designs of a film, as they just show ambition. But most of those ambitious films that he thought of becoming a part of, never got made. However, when Nag Ashwin approached him to play Supreme Yaskin in Kalki 2898 AD, things were quite different.
According to Kamal Haasan, he asked a lot of questions to the talented director, on how he is going to bring a project of this magnitude to life. However, instead of showing him a storyboard or concept designs, Nag Ashwin showed him a few portions from the film featuring legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, that were already shot. The visuals featuring Sr. Bachchan, who plays Ashwatthama in the film, thoroughly impressed Haasan, and the veteran actor immediately said Yes.
