Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan paid an eulogy to late movie icon Vijayakanth during the weekend episode of Bigg Boss Tamil season 7. Reflecting on their decade-long friendship, Kamal shared fond memories of the veteran actor, highlighting his acting prowess, humility, and sense of justice.
"We have been hearing the name Vijayakanth for nearly half a century. I am not just a fan of his acting but also his humility and anger. There was always righteousness in his anger. He mostly got angry for the benefit of others," Kamal recalled.
Describing Vijayakanth as one of his most trusted allies, Kamal emphasized the late actor's unwavering support whenever sought. "In our industry, whenever people reached out to us about issues we would usually reassure them by saying, 'Don't you worry, I will talk to Vijayakanth immediately," he recalled, underscoring Vijayakanth's commitment to helping others.
He suggested that Vijayakanth had given them the right to promise help to anyone knowing he would deliver it on their behalf. "Did Kamal sir promise that then let's do it? This is how he would respond," he said while describing himself as a "great child of cinema."
Rather than dwelling on sorrow, Kamal urged people to celebrate Vijayakanth's life by aspiring to live with the same principles. "He has left us with so many memories to remember and feel happy about. When you think about him, don't just mourn about losing him. But, aspire how to live a life like him. And that kind of thinking will add meaning to his life and our lives," he concluded.
It's noteworthy that Kamal had shared the screen space with Vijayakanth in Manakanakku. In the 1986 movie, Kamal made a cameo appearance as a film director.
Vijayakanth passed away on Thursday morning leaving a huge void in both cinema and politics in India. He died after a prolonged struggle with health issues. He was 71.
