The demise of veteran director K Vishwanath has come as a sad news to many. The 92-year-old director passed away in Hyderabad late in the evening yesterday (February 2). K Vishwanath, who has directed over 50 films in Telugu, has acted in a number of films in Tamil, which include Kuruthipunal, Mugavaree, Kakkai Siraginile, Bagavathi, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Lingaa and Uthama Villain to name a few.


Kamal Haasan, who had acted with him in Uthama Villain, penned a handwritten letter to pay tribute to the legend. His letter read, "Kalathapasvi K Viswanath gaaru fully understood the transience of life and immortality of art. Hence his art will be celebrated beyond his lifetime and reign. Long live his art. An ardent fan, Kamal Haasan 2023 (sic)." The caption read, "Salute to the Master."

Music composer AR Rahman, on the other hand, shared a picture of himself with the director and wrote, "Anjali tradition, warmth, heart, music, dance, love …..your movies filled my childhood with humaneness and wonder! #ripkviswanathji (sic)."

Actor Karthi said that he was proud to have lived around the same time as K Vishwanath. Taking to his social media handle, he wrote, "Karthi posted, "A true legend who was always a class apart and exhibited his finest craft as a filmmaker while staying extremely humble. We are proud to have lived in his times and share the same medium as his. A big salute to you sir. RIP Viswanath Garu (sic)."

Radikaa Sarathkumar shared a few pictures with the actor and said that she will miss him dearly. She wrote, "#KViswanath garu shanti to a legend.A person in his own way leaves a huge vacuum of his art and thinking. Who made films with a purpose.who was the calm in a storm. Will miss you dearly (sic)."

Ace cinematographer PC Sreeram wrote on his social media handle, "#RIPVishwanathGaru His films were special. He was special. May your soul rest in peace (sic)."
