Kamal Haasan points to young Pani actors as he lavishes praise on Malayalam cinema again: ‘It is surprising…’

Kamal Haasan has never shied from acknowledging talent in other industries, particularly Malayalam cinema. Recently, too, the iconic Tamil actor was all praise for the film industry from Kerala, explaining how even young actors have so much understanding of their roles. The film under discussion was Joju George’s Pani. Here’s what the veteran star said about Malayalam cinema and the Pani actors.

The iconic Tamil actor Kamal Haasan, who has acted in Malayalam films early on his career, is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming film, Thug Life, that reunites him with his Nayakan director Mani Ratnam. In a recent interview with Pearle Maaney, Kamal Haasan spoke about how the young talents in Malayalam industry also have a good understanding of their roles and he quoted the example of Pani actors Sagar Surya, and Junaiz VP in Joju George’s directorial debut Pani.

Though he did not name the actors, the Panchatanthiram star said that they would probably have the experience of 2 or 3 movies. “Still look at their understanding of the role. It is very surprising,” the Gunaa star remarked.

He also mentioned that Malayalam films are made on lesser budgets, and even those in small roles leave an impact.

Junaiz, VP who played Siju KT in the 2024 Malayalam film, shared the video on his Instagram page and thanking the legend said, “No greater honor than being recognized by the legend himself, the one and only Kamal Haasan.”

Sagar Surya, who appeared as Don Sebastian, also dropped heart emojis in the comments section.
