It's official! Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is all set to team up with Vendhu Thanindhadhu star Silambarasan TR for his upcoming project, which is tentatively being referred to as #STR48. The film is directed by Desingh Periyasamy. Taking to his social media handle, an excited Silambarasan wrote that dreams do come true. He shared a short video about the announcement and wrote, "Dreams do come true #STR48 #Ulaganayagan #KamalHaasan #Atman #SilambarasanTR #BLOODandBATTLE #RKFI56_STR48 (sic). " The film will mark Raaj Kamal Films International's 156th project.

Kamal Haasan, too, dropped the announcement on his social media handle and wrote in Tamil, which roughly translates to, "Cinema connects generations; Reduces gaps. Cheers to youth and talent!" Speculations had been rife that Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan were teaming up for a film and that Silambarasan will be seen in an action avatar in the project. However, it's only now that the makers have made the film official. We hear that the pre-production work is in progress and that the makers are likely to begin work in July. Desingh Periyasamy had last directed Dulquer Salmaan's Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, which opened to positive reviews.

It is to be noted that during the audio launch of Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu, Silambarasan TR had asked Kamal Haasan, in which film would he like to see him. To which Kamal Haasan had said that he would like to see him in many films. But if he were to pick only one, he would like Silambarasan to act with him.

Silambarasan, in the meantime, is awaiting the release of Pathu Thala, in which he plays the gangster AGR. The film, directed by Obeli Krishna is a remake of the Kannada film, Mufti. The Kannada version starred Shiva Rajkumar, Srimurali and Shanvi Srivastava and the film raked in the moolah at the box office. However, Krishna had stated that they had only borrowed the outline and that ample changes have been made to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience. Pathu Thala teaser has opened to good response and the film, which stars Gautham Karthik, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Gautham Menon, is gearing up to hit screens on March 30.
