Kamal Haasan to write screenplay for Dhanush's Ilaiyaraaja biopic

Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's undying love for Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja is no secret. He also never misses an opportunity to show how much he values and adores Ilaiyaraaja at any public event. And it comes as no surprise that Kamal is reportedly taking on the role of a screenwriter for an upcoming biopic on Ilaiyaraaja .

It seems Kamal loves Ilaiyaraaja to the extent that he can't entrust the responsibility of telling the latter's life story to anyone else. According to several industry sources, Kamal recently confirmed penning the screenplay for the movie, which will star Tamil star Dhanush in the lead role. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.

Kamal Haasan's love for Ilaiyaraaja extends to screenwriting

If it's true, then it will be the first time Kamal will be lending his writing skills to a project in which he's not producing or starring. It seems when it comes to Ilaiyaraaja, all self-imposed rules vanish.

While there is no denying Kamal's genius in acting, he's also an outstanding screenplay writer. All of the films that he has written have gone on to become milestones in the history of Indian cinema. Some of Kamal's best screenwriting credits include Thevar Magan, Michael Madana Kama Rajan, Mahanadhi, Hey Ram, and Virumaandi, to name a few.

With Kamal serving as the screenplay writer, the biopic of Ilaiyaraaja will only grow in scale and size.

Kamal didn't share anything about his involvement in the making of Ilaiyaraaja biopic when he attended the film's launch event in Chennai on Wednesday. However, he claimed that he will be closely watching the film and will talk more about his legendary relationship, both on and off-screen, with Ilaiyaraaja in future events related to the movie.

Kamal also had a few words of advice for Arun Matheswaran, who will be helming with the project.

At the moment, the filmmakers have not revealed who will be scoring the music for the Ilaiyaraaja biopic. But it would be such a meta moment to witness Ilaiyaraaja scoring for the Ilaiyaraaja biopic.
