Kamal Haasan wishes Vikram director Lokesh Kanagaraj on his birthday, says he's a fan-turned-brother now

When a major star in any industry trusts an upcoming director with a big-budget film, it offers many of their counterparts a lot of hope. Lokesh Kanagaraj, who debuted with the anthology Maanagaram, earned a lot of fans with Kaithi and subsequently collaborated with Vijay for the action entertainer Master, that released to a blockbuster response at the theatres for Pongal 2021. After three impressive films, Lokesh's next release is Vikram, headlined by the biggest names in South Indian cinema, Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil.

Commemorating Lokesh Kanagaraj's birthday, the release date of Vikram was announced earlier today. The action spectacle will release in theatres across the globe on June 3. A making video launched along with the release date also reflects the trust that Lokesh has won from Kamal Haasan through the making of Vikram. A few hours before the release date announcement, Kamal, tweeting about Lokesh Kanagaraj in Tamil, wrote, "Happy Birthday to @Dir_Lokesh who started out as a fan, grew into a director and has become a brother today." In Kamal Haasan's post, we see the star engaging in an intense discussion with the director. It's rare that Kamal shares anything about his filmmakers and the post, where he refers to Lokesh as his brother, certainly shows the impact he has made on him. What's equally impressive is the limited duration in which Lokesh has managed to finish the shoot of Vikram (in close to 110 days). Managing names like Kamal, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh is no mean task and Lokesh's work ethic has certainly worked in his favour.

It has been reported that Lokesh Kanagaraj will reunite with his Master star Vijay for a project after Vikram. More details are awaited.
