Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan on Sunday wrote a heartfelt message to his followers on social media on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day. He urged people not to double-think about seeking help when grappling with suicidal thoughts. "There is no such grief that humans cannot tolerate," he wrote.
Kamal also quoted P. Singaram and reminded people, "Until we lose our mind, we lose nothing."
He also noted that people can overcome unwanted negative thoughts by taking control of their lives through small actions. "If you are having suicidal thoughts, don't hesitate for a moment to seek the help of counsellors. Realise that 'action is liberating' and actively engage in things that add meaning and beauty to your life. The nature of life is bliss" says Devadevan. On World Suicide Prevention Day, I ask you to celebrate this wonderful life every day," he added.
Suicide cases are on the rise in India

In recent years, the cases of suicide in India have seen a significant uptick. In 2021, the country reported 12 suicides per one lakh individuals, as per statistics. The National Crime Records Bureau's Accidental Deaths & Suicides in India (ADSI) report revealed that over 35 students in India took their own lives daily in 2021. Globally, 800,000 people succumb to suicide every day. September 10 is observed as World Suicide Prevention Day to raise awareness about this growing challenge.
Kamal Haasan's upcoming movie
On the career front, Kamal Haasan has multiple projects in the pipeline. Recently, he went to the USA to train in handling military-grade modern rifles for his upcoming movie with director H Vinoth. Temporiirliy titled KH233, the movie will be bankrolled by Kamal's own production banner, Raaj Kamal Films International.
