One of the films that Kamal Haasan fans have been eagerly expecting is Indian 2, directed by Shankar. The movie's shooting started years ago, but several problems were causing delays. The shooting, finally, had resumed in August of this year with Haasan taking part. A new cast member joined the project, as a fresh schedule started in Chennai.

Yograj Singh, the father of Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh, posted a photo of himself getting ready for the shoot. In the snapshot, makeup artists were fixing his looks. Yograj was sitting with a thick beard covering his face. He stated in the post that he has officially joined Indian 2's cast. “Big respect to all heroes behind the camera,” he added.

Indian 2 sparked a lot of speculation last year, and it was thought that the movie had been put on hold. Indian 2's production company, Lyca Productions, filed a lawsuit in Madras High Court to order director Shankar to put aside his other planned projects to finish Indian 2. The shooting ultimately resumed again in August on a set in Vadapalani, Chennai. Shankar and Haasan were photographed together with the actor donning his trademark moustache first and clean-shaven appearance, now.

Along with Samuthirakani and Guru Somasundaram, Indian 2 stars Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, and Siddharth. Subaskaran Allirajah of Lyca Productions and MLA and DMK Youth Wing Secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin through Red Giant Movies bankroll the movie.

Indian 2 has music by Anirudh Ravichander, and is the follow-up to Shankar-Kamal’s 1996 vigilante action thriller, Indian. Shankar added that he was thrilled to see Kamal sporting the look of the popular octogenarian character Senapathy, a freedom fighter-turned-vigilante bent on rooting out corruption.

In addition to this, director Shankar is involved with an untitled film, featuring Ram Charan.

After that, Shankar and Ranveer Singh would work on the Hindi version of the 2005 Tamil movie Anniyan. Veteran movie producer Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios brings them together.

The original Anniyan, released in 2005, followed the lives of a regular man who was fed up with the government and the system and decided to take matters into his own hands to fix it.
