It looks like the team of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 is leaving no stone unturned to wrap up the shooting of the film at the earliest. The latest we hear is that the team is busy with continuous night shoots and that the talkie portions are likely to be completed by July. Kamal Haasan, too, had recently revealed at an event in Chennai that the shoot for the film was happening at full swing.
Though the shoot for the film had begun in 2020, it came to a sudden halt after a fatal accident on the set which led to the loss of lives. The pandemic-induced lockdown delayed the shoot further. Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan began working on Lokesh Kanagaraj's action entertainer Vikram. So, now in an attempt to not waste any time further, the team had begun the post-production work for the portions that have already been shot. At this rate, it looks like the film is likely targeting a Diwali release.
Amid all this, the film's composer Anirudh Ravichander, too, has begun working on the score and the BGM. We hear that certain tunes from the original film, Indian (1996) composed by Isai Puyal AR Rahman will be used in the film. It seems the film's director has sought ARR's permission to reuse the tunes. It would be interesting to see Anirudh and AR Rahman's music coming together for the film.
Indian 2 has an ensemble cast including Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Gulshan Grover, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simhaa, Jayaprakash, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Guru Somasundaram, Manobala, Vennela Kishore to name a few. Kamal Haasan will be reprising his iconic character Senapathy in the film and his look was revealed by director Shankar on Ulaganayagan's birthday last year. Cinematography is by Rathnavelu and Ravi Varman and editing is by Sreekar Prasad. The film is bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies.
