Agent Tina from Kamal Haasan’s blockbuster Vikram will next be seen in Mammootty’s big budget multi-starrer, which is helmed by Aaraattu filmmaker B Unnikrishnan. Tamil actress Vasanthi has joined the sets of the Malayalam thriller, which is currently being shot in Kothamangalam.

A photo of Mammootty and Vasanthi from the sets has been shared widely on social media. Vasanthi, who had been working as a back-up dancer in Kollywood for the past two decades and has assisted choreographer Dinesh master, is the third Tamil actor to be part of the film, which is scripted by Udaykrishna.

Vinay Rai, who had starred in Suriya’s Etharkkum Thunindhavan and Sivakarthikeyan’s Doctor, will be making his Malayalam debut as the antagonist in the film, which also has Aishwarya Lekshmi, Amala Paul and Sneha as the female leads. The movie, which is reportedly inspired by true incidents, also has Shine Tom Chacko, Dileesh Pothan and Jinu Joseph.

The film, which will reportedly be released in multiple languages, has Mammootty essaying the role of a police officer and will also have locations in several other states. Incidentally, the film was first planned with Mohanlal in the lead, before the scriptwriter and director decided to collaborate with the superstar for Aaraattu, due to the practical difficulties to shoot a big budget thriller in multiple locations while the pandemic restrictions were still on.

The upcoming film has Justin Varghese as its composer while Faiz Siddique is serving as its cinematographer. While this would be Mammootty second collaboration with Unnikrishnan after Pramani, the megastar has also signed two films with debutants. He has greenlit cinematographer Roby Raj Varghese’s directorial debut, which is again a police thriller, as well as scriptwriter Kaloor Dennis’ son Deeno’s ‘mass thriller’ that will be shot in Kochi and Bengaluru.

Mammootty’s next release in Malayalam will be Nissam Basheer’s Rorschach. He is also part of Surender Reddy’s action thriller Agent, which has Akhil Akkineni in the lead.
