Kamarottu 2 trailer - Priyanka Upendra is set to take on paranormal forces in horror thriller

Writer-director A Paramesh’s next is Kamarottu 2, which, though billed as the sequel to his earlier Kamarottu Checkpost, does not take off where the first one ended, but brings some of the characters into this tale as well. Yet another horror thriller, Kamarottu 2 is about the supernatural occurrences happening in the lives of a young couple played by Swaminathan Anantharaman and Rajani Bharadwaj. Priyanka Upendra joins the cast as a paranormal investigator called Sara. The trailer of the soon-to-be-released film was launched on February 10.

Routine horror movie tropes of an old house in the middle of nowhere, strange noises, unexplained movements and breakage of objects, women and children wandering alone, and more, are all part of Kamarottu 2 as well, only this time, Priyanka, as Sara, is in the mix and trying to get to the bottom of events. Should they believe everything they see or hear is, of course, the main question she has to find answers to.

In an earlier conversation with the Times of India, Priyanka had explained that she took inspiration from real-life paranormal investigators like the late Gaurav Trivedi and Lorraine Warren to fashion her character. The actress’ character Sara is a north Indian, who speaks a mix of Kannada, Hindi and English. Priyanka said that the team tried to make her character as realistic as possible, including the use of actual machinery used in paranormal investigations. The film also stars Raghavendra Rajkumar in a pivotal role.

Paramesh’s earlier film, Kamarottu Checkpost was about an ad filmmaker heading to Kamarottu to meet a friend, only to encounter strange occurrences in his house. Meanwhile, Kamarottu 2 is not the only film about the paranormal that Rajani is a part of. The actress is also in actor Sharan’s upcoming horror comedy Choo Mantar, as well as in Srujan Lokesh’s directorial debut Ghosts in Trouble.
