The makers of upcoming Malayalam movie, Kanakarajyam, have confirmed the postponement of its theatrical release. The family drama, which was slated to hit the big screen on July 5, has been delayed for a day. Murali Gopy and Indrans are playing the lead roles in the film, which is loosely based on real-life incidents.
The producers claim that technical issues are the reason behind the postponement of the movie's theatrical release. Since some of the May releases are still showing in theatres and some of the June films are receiving favourable reviews from audiences, it is safe to assume that Kanakarajyam will only be available on a small number of screens in the interim. The multilingual movie, Kalki 2898 AD, is receiving a great reception and is currently taking up most of the state's theatre screens.

The teaser teased the plot of this movie, which looks at the lives of a struggling young man and a former army officer. A glimpse into the life of Indrans, a retired soldier who works as a security guard at a jewellery shop in his hometown, is given in this two-minute video. Meanwhile, Murali Gopy is portrayed as a jobless man who is trying to get a bank loan for an entrepreneurial venture.
The lives of Indran and his family take an unexpected turn when his character unintentionally gets involved in the robbery case involving the jewellery store where he worked. The rest of the trailer then shows his quest to learn the truth and get his name cleared in the case. Viewers can determine whether Murali Gopy's character is involved in this case after the movie opens in theatres.
The plot centres on a real-life jewellery theft that occurred in Alappuzha in 2005. The supporting cast includes Leona Lishoy, Dinesh Prabhakar, Unni Raj, Sreejith Ravi, Jolly Chirayath, and Ramesh Kottayam. The film's director is Sagar.
