Meanwhile, theatre personality Debesh Chattopadhyay has also announced that he will be making a film on Fyataru – his acclaimed stage production. Fyataru is partially based on Kangal Malsat.

Author Nabarun Bhattacharya’s fictional characters Fyatarus have a deep political background. The characters are essentially described as insignificant, subaltern and often ignored entities, who attack the pulpit out of the blue. According to the literary works, their attacks are often impromptu – equivalent to guerrilla attacks by socio-political activists. In the garb of deep, dry humour, Nabarun Bhattacharya’s satire Kangal Malshat and others that have the Fyatarus as important characters are significant political novels in Bengali literature.
