Kangana Ranaut surprised everyone when she recently had a change of heart for the veteran actress and Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan. Kangana showered praise on Jaya Bachchan by calling her the 'most dignified actress’ as she appeared in a news show as a panel member. Her remark comes days after taking a jibe at Jaya Bachchan’s objection regarding her name.

Kangana credits Jaya Bachchan for her craft and bold decisions

In a surprising turn of events, Kangana, who is awaiting the release of her film Emergency, was now seen lauding actor-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan. This comes days after taking a dig at the Rajya Sabha MP as she dubbed her ‘arrogant.’ During a recent conversation, Kangana overlooked their earlier war of words and instead praised the Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham actress' acting craft, who brought dignity to the Hindi entertainment industry.

For the unversed, Kangana criticized Jaya when the latter objected to being addressed with her husband’s name as ‘Jaya Amitabh Bachchan’ in the Rajya Sabha, citing her own identity.

During the news event, Kangana was asked to share her thoughts on Jaya Bachchan. The Emergency actress addressed the question with a positive spin as she lauded her choice of films like Guddi during the 70s era and also expressed pride in having someone as talented as her in the Rajya Sabha.

“Jaya Bachchan is one of our most successful actors. Honestly, she is known for her short temper but honestly, at the same time, I would like to give her the acknowledgement and due credit that in those times… Can you imagine what times were the 70s and in those times, she did films like Guddi, and she gave the message of women empowerment. I think she is one of the most dignified women in the film industry. The way she carries herself in the Rajya Sabha… I feel very good that there is such good representation from the film industry,” Ranaut shared in the News 18 event.

Kangana was further asked about their bitter war of words in 2020 when Jaya Bachchan criticized the Queen actress and Ravi Kishan for their opinion about drugs in Bollywood. She added that it was completely fine as the veteran actress is her elder. “I feel these are our elders, if they say something, it’s not bad,” the Tanu Weds Manu actress added.

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency

Kangana's highly anticipated directorial debut Emergency continues to witness troubles as it was postponed after multiple release date changes. The political drama film, which was slated for a theatrical release on September 6, landed in several controversies as the Sikh community urged for a ban on its premiere, citing 'sensitive themes’ and hate propaganda. The movie is currently facing a delay in getting a CBFC certificate for it as the film committee demands several scenes to be removed. The film revolves around the critical period of Indian history from 1975 to 1977 when the Emergency was imposed in the country. Kangana headlines the film by playing Indira Gandhi.
