Taking to her Instagram story, Kangana Ranaut called AR Rahman hateful. “Dear AR Rahman ji, I face so much prejudice and partiality in the film industry because I support a saffron party, yet I must say I have not come across a man more prejudiced and hateful than you,” she noted. The actress further claimed that Rahman even refused to meet her, let alone give her an opportunity for narration. “I was told you don’t want to be a part of propaganda film. Ironically, emergency was called as masterpiece by everyone, even opposition party leader appreciates the film for its balanced & compassionate approach, but you are blinded by your hate,” she added. Soon after, the debate took a new turn.

Where did it all begin?

Rahman was in an interaction with BBC which is when he called Chhaava a divisive film. “It is a divisive film. I think it cashed in on divisiveness, but I think the core of it is to show bravery,” he stated. The same started a debate, and Kangana Ranaut shared the interview while claiming all that she experienced with the composer.

Among the known voices, Priyanka Chopra’s cousin Meera Chopra shared her views. Pointing out how AR Rahman, much like Priyanka Chopra, were among the impactful people to take Indians on a global stage, Meera tweeted, “Trolling him for something he didn’t even mean is not just wrong, it’s disgraceful. Respect the legend.” Whether her statement was directed towards Kangana Ranaut or the netizens remains unclear.
