Kangana Ranaut-Javed Akhtar settle 4 year old defamation case; Emergency star apologizes to the legendary lyricist: ‘He was very kind and gracious…’

Sushant Singh Rajput’s passing opened a can of worms, and Kangana Ranaut was very vocal about her stand on the entire issue. While expressing her opinions, she also dragged legendary lyricist-writer-poet Javed Akhtar into the controversy, making some shocking claims about him in one of her interviews. Akhtar soon chose to respond legally and filed a case against Ranaut, accusing her of making false claims and attempting to malign his image. The defamation case has been ongoing for four long years, but today, the actor has confirmed that they have resolved their differences and settled the defamation suit. Kangana even shared a picture with Javed Akhtar on her Instagram handle.

Kangana Ranaut Resolves Differences with Javed Akhtar

As per a Filmibeat report, Kangana Ranaut has settled the defamation suit filed against her by Javed Akhtar in 2020. In her apology, the actor stated that she made the remarks against Akhtar due to a misunderstanding and has apologized to him for the inconvenience caused.

Javed Akhtar had accused Kangana Ranaut of defaming him and damaging his reputation by dragging his name into the controversy surrounding Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The accusations were made by Ranaut in an interview in July 2020. Following Javed Akhtar’s complaint, Kangana filed a counter-complaint against him, alleging criminal intimidation and insult to modesty. She claimed that during her visit to his residence in 2016, Akhtar had criminally intimidated her and asked her to apologize to a co-star.

Ranaut's lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee and Akhtar's advocate Jay Kumar Bhardwaj confirmed that the matter was settled through an hour-long mediation before a special magistrate court in Bandra. The case was initially being heard by the magistrate court in Mumbai, but when Kangana was appointed as the MP of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, by BJP, her case was transferred to the special magistrate court designated for matters involving MPs and MLAs under the special act.

Kangana Ranaut even shared a picture with Javed Akhtar on Instagram after settling the defamation case and wrote, "Today, Javedji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation. In the mediation, Javed ji has been very kind and gracious. He also agreed to write songs for my next directorial." Javed Akhtar is yet to make any official comment on the same.
