Kangana Ranaut recalls ‘intense training’ with Anurag Basu on Life in a... Metro set

Actress-filmmaker Kangana Ranaut - who is currently preparing for her upcoming biographical film Emergency - recently took to her social media page to share a throwback picture of herself with director Anurag Basu, from the set of the 2007 Life in a... Metro.

The Thalaivii actress shared the candid shot on Instagram and captioned it: “All thanks to this mad genius @anuragbasuofficial who launched me 17 years ago on 28th April 2006 here is a picture of him and me from life in a metro set (2006) this is how he trained me.... ‘Tu chup kar’ is his favourite training phrase...ha ha I love you Anu...thanks for everything. I was told actresses have 4-5 years shelf life... Well, I completed 17 years yesterday....”

Co-written and directed by Anurag, Life in a... Metro was loosely based on Billy Wilder’s romantic comedy film The Apartment. The movie featured an ensemble cast that included Dharmendra, Nafisa Ali, Shilpa Shetty, Kay Kay Menon, Shiney Ahuja, Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sensharma and Sharman Joshi. Kanagana made her acting debut with Anurag’s 2006 romantic drama film Gangster: A Love Story, starring opposite Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja.

In Emergency, Kangana will be playing the role of India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film also features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair and Shreyas Talpade in prominent roles.

Apart from this, she will be seen next in P Vasu’s Chandramukhi 2, which is a sequel to the Tamil horror film Chandramukhi. She will essay the role of a court dancer in this movie. Among her other projects include Tejas, Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda and The Incarnation: Sita.
