aha is on a dubbed-release spree like never before. In its bid to counter OTT giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in the regional space, the platform is aggressively pulling out all the stops to dub films from Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages and releasing them at record speed week after week. After acquiring the Telugu versions of Kannada film Pogaru, Nayanthara's Malayalam film Nizhal, Vijay Sethupathi's Junga recently, the platform is gearing up to release another hit Kannada film of Rishab Shetty titled Hero (not to be mistaken with the Sivakarthikeyan starrer) on July 23.

The film is a black comedy that revolves around a barber who spots his former lover at the house of a deadly gangster. While trying to help her flee the house, he has to deal with the henchmen of the gangster and ensure the safety of his ex. Directed by M Bharath Raj, the lead actor of the film Rishab Shetty has produced the film under his home banner. The film also stars Ganavi Laxman, Pramod Shetty, Ugram Manju and Aravind Mahesh in key roles.

Hero hit theatres across Karnataka in March this year and performed well at the box office. Hero will release on aha the same day as Needa (Nizhal in Malayalam starring Nayanthara). While the platform enthusiastically posted about the release date of the Telugu version of Vijay Sethupathi's Super Deluxe (on July 9), they suddenly went silent about it later. The biggest release in the month for aha of course is the sci-fi crime thriller web series Kudi Yedamaithe starring Amala Paul and Rahul Vijay, directed by U-Turn fame Pawan Kumar.
