The big-ticket Dasara releases are in theatres this week, but even though some promised Kannada-dubbed versions, so far, there’s no sign of actual screen allocation

Dasara/Dussehra is upon us and this time around, there are multiple big-ticket releases in cinema halls across the state. Instead of letting other language films have a free reign during this festive season, actor-filmmaker MG Srinivas is bringing his Kannada action heist thriller as a pan-India release to theatres. While some of the other films had Kannada-dubbed teasers/trailers – Tiger Nageswara Rao and Ganpath - in the run-up to the release, two days into advance bookings having opened, there is no sign of an actual release in the Kannada version. So, if you are looking at watching something new in Kannada this festive season, your options are pretty limited. Here’s a look…

Ghost
Director MG Srinivas has Century Star Shivarajkumar in the lead for an action heist thriller set in a prison and with a narrative spanning 48 hours. Cleared U/A with a crisp run-time of 2 hours and 7 minutes only, the film, which also stars Jayaram in a pivotal role, along with Anupam Kher and Archana Jois, is, according to reports about a stash of gold hidden away at the prison, which Shivarajkumar tries to take. The actor will be seen in three distinctive shades in the film, one of which has him digitally-de-aged.
Nodadha Puttagalu
Directed by Vasanth Kumar, Nodadha Putagalu released in theatres in April this year and is now headed to OTT. Starring Preetham Makkihali and Kavya Ramesh in the lead, the film follows protagonist Aditya and how his life would have turned out, had he not decided to end it following a certain failure. The film has a potent message for youngsters that suicide is not a solution for anything.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Thalapathy Vijay-led film is the Tamil adaptation of the Hollywood film A History of Violence. A few screens have been allocated to the Kannada-dubbed version of the film, which also stars Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, among many others. According to an official synopsis, Leo follows Parthiban (Vijay) a chocolatier, who is targeted by gangsters Antony (Sanjay) and Harold Das (Arjun) as they suspect him to be their estranged younger brother Leo Das.
