Dhanveerah and Vijay Raghavendra have releases this week in theatres and Nagabhushana's film finally comes to OTT.

With Prashant Neel’s Salaar just over two weeks away, not many Kannada films are headed to theatres this week or the next. That does not mean that there’s a complete dry spell at the box office though. Here’s a look at your choices for the week in theatres and OTT.

Kaiva
Directed by Jayathirtha, Kaiva is an intense love story set in the 80s, with Dhanveerah and Megha Shetty in the lead. The film is inspired by true events and unfolds within the realm of the city’s underworld. The film has been censored A, but it’s not because of vulgarity or violence says Dhanveerah, adding that the film has a pivotal message for society. Kaiva is a B Ajaneesh Loknath musical. Kaiva is a theatrical release.
Marichi
Vijay Raghavendra plays a cop yet again in Siddhruv Sidhu’s Marichi that is releasing in theatres this week. This time around, he plays an investigating officer called Bhairav Naik, who is on the trail of a psycho killer hunting doctors. With three murders and the possibility of more looming large, it becomes a race against time to find the perpetrator. The film also stars Sonu Gowda, Abhi Dass, Gopalkrishna Deshpande among others
Hi Nanna
Telugu star Nani presents an emotional tale of a single father and his daughter and a woman who takes an interest in them. The film, directed by Shouryuv, has Mrunal Thakur and Shruthi Haasan on the cast. Sanu John Varghese fills in as cinematographer, while Hesham Abdul Wahab is the composer.
Tagaru Palya
Nagabhushana and newcomer Amrutha Prem (daughter of Nenapirali Prem) lead this ensemble comedy about a local Mandya tradition involving a sacrificial animal, whose consent (the shaking of the head), is a must before the slaughter. The film, which is now coming to OTT, follows what happens when a goat meant to be sacrificed at a marriage party does not approve of its imminent death. The film also stars Vasuki Vaibhav, Sharath Lohithashwa, Rangayana Raghu, among others.
Jigarthanda DoubleX
A prequel to 2014’s Jigarthanda, this film by Karthik Subbaraj is a period story set in the 70s that follows a filmmaker and a gangster and how they collaborate to make a Western film. Starring Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah, Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko, Naveen Chandra, Ilavarau, among many others. Jigarthanda DoubleX is dropping on OTT this week.
Koose Muniswamy Veerappan
Directed by Sharath Jothi, the latest docu-series on OTT on the life of slain forest brigand Veerappan claims that its highlight is previously unseen footage of the bandit himself. Spread over six episodes, it will have interviews with people associated with Veerappan, law enforcement officers and others, while also devoting significant time on the video footage of an interview with the brigand.
