Kannada cinema’s popular comedian Chikkanna is finally making the transition from supporting artiste to protagonist with this week’s Upadhyaksha. The film is based on Chikkanna’s character from the 2014 Adhyaksha, in which Sharan was the lead. This comedy flick has a love story at its crux and pairs Chikkanna with Malaika Vasupal. P Ravi Shankar is also in the film.

Case of Kondana

The team of Seetharam Benoy: Case No. 18, including director Devi Prasad Shetty and lead actor Vijay Raghavendra return for yet another thriller subject. Vijay plays a cop in this hunt for a murderer, who seems to be one step ahead of the investigating team at all times. Can he nab the culprit? Vijay is paired with Dia fame Kushee Ravi, while Bhavana Menon will be seen in a pivotal role in the film.

Director Prithvi Konanur is bringing his festival darling film Hadinelentu to theatres this week. The film is about two teenagers, one from a Brahmin family and another a Dalit, who make a sex video, which is leaked online. What happens thereafter in the handling of this sensitive issue forms the cruz of the film. The film stars Sherlyn Bhosale, Sudha Belawadi, Bhavani Prakash, Rekha Kudligi, Neeraj Mathew, among others.

Koli Esru

Akshatha Pandavapura leads the cast of director Champa P Shetty’s film based on the story Huchheeri Esarina Prasanga by KT Chikkanna. Apeksha Nagaraj Chornahalli, Natana Manju, Prakash Shetty and Dakshayani N make up the rest of the cast of the film, which follows a mother’s desperate attempts to give her 10-year-old daughter some chicken curry.

Aditi Prabhudeva is in cop mode in this thriller about the circumstances that led to the death of a newly-married woman. Did the husband of the slain woman have something to do with her murder? Also starring Pavan Teja, Hanumanthe Gowda, Mimicry Gopi, Chandrakala Mohan, among others.
