The first week of September feels like Valentine’s Day suddenly. Both the films releasing in theatres on September 1 are love stories, featuring popular stars. While one is an intense love story, that is the first of a two-part set, the other, is a modern-day tale. There’s the Kannada original Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side A and the dubbed film Kushi, both of which come to theatres only a week after Raj B Shetty’s Toby and as Rajinikanth’s Jailer continues to do well in the Karnataka market.

Sapta Sagaradaache Ello
Hemanth M Rao’s third directorial is his second collaboration with leading man Rakshit Shetty, who has also produced the film. An intense love story set across two time periods – 2010 and 2020 – the film is releasing in two parts, with the first, Side A, in theatres on September 1. This bit has Rakshit paired with Rukmini Vasanth. According to the trailer, Rakshit and Rukmini play Manu and Priya, a deeply-in-love couple, who end up apart, owing to a crime that has him land in jail. This part of the story also addresses the socio-economic difference between Manu and Priya. Whether or not that is the driving force for the crime that ends in their separation is for audiences to experience in theatres.
Sapta Sagaradaache Ello also stars Avinash, Achyuth Kumar, Pavitra Lokesh, Sharath Lohitashwa, among others. The film has music by Charan Raj, yet another of Hemanth’s regular collaborators. The film is being distributed by KVN Productions.
Kushi
The Telugu film with Vijay Devarakonoda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead will release in Karnataka with a Kannada dubbed version. According to the official synopsis, the film is about a couple that is predicted to have a failed marriage, but then decide to become ideal partners for each other. Whether or not their relationship works out, or if the elders in the family are proven right, forms the crux of the narrative. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film also stars Murali Sharma, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna and Srikanth Iyengar, among others.
Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare
Debutant director Nithin Krishnamurthy's comedy campus caper was widely appreciated for its innvative promotions, and then went on to storm the box office in Karnataka, even though biggies like Oppenheimer and Barbie had released on the same day. The film has just got a Telugu dubbed outing and was supposed to drop on OTT as well in its original Kannada version. The platform has just revealed a new dateline, pegging it as a September 1, 2023 outing.
