Kannapa box office collection day 4: Vishnu's film passes the Monday test, nears the Rs 60 crore gross

Kannappa is Vishnu Manchu's new film that has caught the attention of many, thanks to star cameos from the likes of Mohanlal, Prabhas, and Akshay Kumar. The fantasy drama made Rs 50 crore in its first weekend, and everyone was eager to see how the film would fare on its first Monday.

Well, the numbers are out, and one can say that the film has passed the Monday test fairly well, as Kannappa made Rs 3.5 crore on its first Monday. These are decent numbers considering Vishnu Manchu's market.

Many thought that Kannappa would fall flat on weekdays, but it did fairly well as the occupancy in the Telugu states was above 50%. The presence of a star like Prabhas is helping the film in a big way, as his fans are turning out in large numbers to watch it.

Kannappa has been directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, who has ensured that the film is narrated in an engaging manner, especially in the second half. In the US, occupancy has dropped, and the other South Indian language versions of Kannappa have not performed well in terms of collections.

Kannappa is Vishnu Manchu's dream project and has been on his mind for over a decade. His father, Mohan Babu, also played a key role in the film, which features Preity Mukundan as the female lead. The film's success has given her a new lease on life, and she is now receiving solid offers in Telugu cinema.

Kannappa is yet to lock its OTT platform, as the makers are expecting big bucks from digital deals. Vishnu clearly revealed in an interview that the film will not be available on OTT until 10 weeks after its release. In the days to come, some big Telugu films are set to release, and it remains to be seen how Kannappa will fare from here on.
