After RDX: Robert Dony Xavier and 2018: Everyone is a Hero, Mammootty’s Kannur Squad is attracting large crowds to the theatres. Released on September 28, the film is still enjoying a steady run at the box office, raking in a collection of more than ₹30 crore from cinemas across Kerala. According to latest reports, the Mammootty-starrer has earned over ₹70 crore worldwide within 16 days. The film had earlier surpassed Mohanlal’s Drishyam on the list of the highest-grossing Malayalam films. In terms of weekend collections for an Indian film at the UK box office, Kannur Squad has surpassed Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. Now, the film is all set to beat Nivin Pauly and Sai Pallavi's popular coming-of-age romantic drama film, Premam.

Kannur Squad poised to surpass Premam

It is said that Kannur Squad has already surpassed Kayamkulam Kochunni and Romancham, in terms of worldwide collection, and it is all set to beat Nivin Pauly’s Premam. Released in 2015, Premam was the second Malayalam film to gross more than ₹50 crore worldwide after Mohanlal’s Drishyam. It was directed by Alphonse Puthren, and reportedly collected ₹76 crore. Interestingly, the Nivin-starrer was more successful in Tamil Nadu than in Kerala, and became the first Malayalam film to run for 250 days in Chennai.
