The countdown to the release of Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited Kantara Chapter 1 has begun, with the film set to hit theatres on October 2, 2025. Netizens eager to catch the first available show have been waiting eagerly for word on when advance bookings will begin. Earlier today, the production house revealed that advance bookings for Kantara Chapter 1 in India will open on September 26 at 12.29 pm. What will be even more interesting is the price point that tickets for Kantara Chapter 1 will be placed at.
The Kantara makers were a part of the litigation against the Karnataka government’s order capping ticket prices in the state at Rs 200 (plus taxes), and have received interim relief, with the High Court staying the order until the next hearing. Will Kantara Chapter 1 follow the KGF Chapter 2 model with massively hiked ticket prices on day 1? KGF: Chapter 2 had ticket rates as high as Rs 5,000 for gold class recliner seats, in some movie halls, with the average rate going at Rs 1,000 to 2,000.
Kantara Chapter 1 to start with 6.30 am shows
It also remains to be seen if the film will have early morning shows before the allowed start time of 6.30 am, as was the case with KGF-2. There have been reports that the film will have paid premieres across the country on October 1. OTTplay reached out to Hombale Films about the possibility of premieres and early morning shows and was told that if there are late night shows on October 1, they will begin at 6.30 am only on October 2.
According to a source, final output of the film will be available for upload by September 27 or latest 28th, following which there will be more clarity about the paid premieres. The advance booking opening on September 26 will be for the shows on October 2 at single screen theatres, with multiplex schedules to be available closer to October 1 only. Kantara Chapter 1 is also releasing on IMAX screens, bookings for which will likely open tomorrow.
