Kantara Chapter 1 Day 12 box office: Rishab Shetty's film is now the second highest grossing film of 2025. With weak weekday collections and the upcoming festive season, how much more will it make?

On October 13, Kantara Chapter 1 registered its lowest box office figures since its arrival in theatres. The film, which released in theatres on October 2, managed only Rs 13.5 cr (net) on its second Monday, most of which came from the Kannda and Hindi versions. This took the film’s all-India net figure to Rs 451.9 cr after only a 12-day run. The Day 12 figures had Kannada and Hindi at Rs 4.75 cr each, while Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam contributed Rs 1.35 cr, Rs 1.5 cr and Rs 1.15 cr, respectively. By noon of Day 13, the film was reported to have added another Rs 4 cr to its total, with final figures expected later on.

In its first week at the box office, Kantara Chapter 1 had registered a net of Rs 337.4 cr, which was way below the Rs 523.75 cr that KGF: Chapter 2 amassed in the same time frame. However, after only 11 days at the box office, it managed to become the highest grossing film from Karnataka, bettering the original Kantara’s record of Rs 183.6 cr and registering Rs 191 cr+.
Kantara’s collections are expected to dwindle further in the south, when the Deepavali releases hit theatres on October 17, including Bison, Dude, Diesel, Telusu Kada, Pet Detective, Theatre, etc., come as Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam originals, with Thamma then joining in on October 21 as the big Hindi release. That Kantara Chapter 1 only has a 4-week OTT window for its south versions is also likely to affect its performance in the coming days. The film is expected to drop on Amazon Prime Video on October 30.
