Kantara Chapter 1 Hindi box office collection Day 15: Rishab Shetty’s magnum opus recorded the lowest third Friday since it hit the screens on October 2, clashing with Varun Dhawan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. After a strong opening week, the prequel maintained its consistency at the box office with record-breaking numbers. Despite a dip in its earnings, the Kantara prequel has become one of the most successful franchises, as it not only made a mark in the South cinema but also minted hundreds of crores with its Hindi version. Kantara Chapter 1 is almost a part of the Rs 500 crore club as it inches closer to its goal with the upcoming festive weekend. Here’s how much it collected..
Rishab Shetty-starrer Kantara Chapter 1 continues to shine at the box office even in the third week. After a long opening week, Kantara stayed consistent at the box office, as no other major theatrical releases disturbed its presence. Kantara Chapter 1 made an outstanding collection of Rs 493.75 crore by the end of the third week. The movie is expected to surpass the milestone of Rs 500 crore at the domestic collection in this festive weekend of Diwali. Despite a single-digit earning on the third Friday, Kantara: Chapter 1 continues to shine as it added another Rs 8.50 crore in the net collection in India. The worldwide collection has garnered more than Rs 700 crore, surpassing all-time blockbusters like Gadar 2, Saiyaara, Sultan, Pushpa: The Rise, Baahubali, and others.
Kantara Chapter 1 secured its spot in the Rs 100-crore club in the first week itself as it raked in Rs 108 crore, followed by Rs 54.25 crore. Keeping pace with the Hindi collection, the Kantara prequel has now added Rs 3.5–4 crore (early estimates) on October 17. The overall Hindi collection after completing sixteen days of its theatrical premiere stands at Rs 167 crore.
As per the analysis by industry tracker Sacnilk, Kantara witnessed a dip in its occupancy in the Hindi language on Day 16 (October 17), Kantara Chapter 1 covered an overall Hindi occupancy of 9.13%. It had an occupancy of 6.16% for morning shows, while the afternoon shows had a spike with 8.89%, followed by the evening shows with 8.13% occupancy. The night shows witnessed the highest occupancy of the day with 13.33%.
The creative mind behind the Kantara charm is actor-director Rishab Shetty. It also centers on the Indian folklore and legends. As the main antagonist, Gulshan Devaiah leads the charge as a strong man. Princess Kanakavathi is portrayed by Rukmini Vasanth.
