As Kantara Chapter 1 completes a successful 2-week theatrical run, the makers revealed its most action-packed trailer to date, in time for the Deepavali festivities and holidays. While most hardcore fans of the franchise would have already seen the Rishab Shetty directorial at least once, if not more, for those who’ve been on the fence about catching the Kantara prequel, this is the most definitive push they are going to get.

A 3-minute trailer that not only tells the story, but also provides a fairly detailed glimpse into the world that Rishab built, the characters, whether it is Maayakaara, the Kings Rajashekara and Kulashekara, princess Kanakavati, Berme, and, of course, the daivas that audiences have been keenly waiting to see again. It is all there in this special trailer.
The trailer was released on the day that Rishab returned to home ground and sought blessings at the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru. Kantara Chapter 1, which Rishab wrote along with Shaneel Gautham and Anirudh Mahesh, has music by B Ajaneesh Loknath and cinematography by Arvind Kashyap. Rishab was joined by Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, Gulshan Devaiah, Hariprashanth MG, Pramod Shetty, Naveen D Padil, (late) Rakesh Poojary, Prakash Thuminad, among many others on the cast.
The film currently enjoys the status as the highest grossing Kannada film of 2025, industry hit, and the second highest grossing movie of the year, just behind Chhaava. Whether or not it has the potential to outgross the Vicky Kaushal film remains to be seen, given that Kantara Chapter 1’s OTT outing is not far off. Amazon Prime Video holds the streaming rights and has set a 4-week window for the OTT premiere. The film will drop on October 30, 2025 on the platform, in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The Hindi version will be after the 8-week mark.
