Kantara Chapter 1 is in theatres and reviews have been pouring in from all corners of the world about Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited prequel. It’s unanimous that the actor-filmmaker has presented a visual spectacle and that he’s come up with yet another award-probable performance. As far as the story-telling goes, there are mixed opinions but that has not stopped the steady flow of audiences to catch the film in cinemas near them.

Joining the growing chorus of audiences who absolutely loved Kantara is Telugu superstar Prabhas, who took to social media with his thoughts on the film. While he had words of praise for the performances, what was astonishing was his prediction for the film’s box office journey. Prabhas wrote that Kantara Chapter 1 is a brilliant film with outstanding performances from everyone, which, he thinks, will be the biggest blockbuster of the year. Interesting observation, considering that his own film, The Raja Saab has been moved to an early January 2026 release.
Kantara Chapter 1 was widely seen as the film that would break into the Rs 1,000 crore club in 2025. The original film, which had strong word-of-mouth going for it, had made a little under Rs 400 crore and a longer theatrical stint to get to that figure. This time, according to reports, the film has only a 4-week OTT window and will be on Amazon Prime Video in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
