Kantara has officially begun the second leg of its theatrical journey today with the Hindi version of the film hitting the big screens. This will be followed by the Telugu and Tamil dubbed versions on Saturday, October 15, and the Malayalam version, the final cog of this mega wheel, slated to release in theatres a few days later.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, who will be distributing Kantara (Malayalam), took to social media a short while ago to announce that the film will release on October 20, 2022. What has been an unprecedented, amazing ride so far for the makers will now be spreading its wings over newer regions and audiences, and it would be interesting to see how Kantara fares in the dubbed form.
Prithviraj, through this distribution stint, continues to maintain a strong association with Hombale Films. Having first collaborated with the Bengaluru-based production house as the distributor of K.G.F: Chapter 2, Prithviraj was then signed on to play a crucial role in the Prashanth Neel film Salaar (alongside Prabhas, Shruti Haasan, and others): will soon be directing his next Tyson under the Hombale Films banner.
"#KANTARA is a glorious cinematic achievement! #RishabhShetty is an absolute genius both in front and behind the camera! @hombalefilms What a mind blowing portfolio of content you’re building. Thank you for leading the way! Brace for a beyond spectacular last 20 minutes," said Prithviraj Sukumaran about his Kantara experience before announcing that he would also be distributing the Malayalam version of the film. "I absolutely HAD to do this," he said to enunciate his admiration for the film.
Outside Karnataka, Kantara has been performing quite well with its limited release and the film has already collected over Rs. 2.50 crores (approx.) in the non-South Indian regions. The Kannada film has earned the makers Rs. 1 crore each in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh/Telangana with Kerala contributing close to Rs. 0.50 crore so far to the overall collections.
