Although Kantara's success could easily be measured in numbers, one might reckon that the film's cultural triumph transcends mere box office results. What was conceived and touted as a Kannada film alone prior to its theatrical release, Kantara grew in stature across the country at such a pace that actor-director Rishab Shetty found himself in a bit of a haze during the course. "It was a nightmare," he says referring to the gruelling process of dubbing and re-releasing his film in four other languages, that too only within a span of two weeks.

And to make things only better and more overwhelming, Rishab and his team began to attract the most glowing of reviews from all corners with the biggest celebrities and personalities singing praises for his efforts. One such response, or gesture, rather, came from a certain Mr. Rajinikanth's end who, having witnessed the film's phenomenal success worldwide from a distance, finally managed to experience it on the big screen. On October 26, the superstar actor took to social media to profess his love for Kantara and term it a "masterpiece", much to the delight of those who were ardently looking forward to his comments on the film.

Soon after, Rishab Shetty would land in Chennai to meet the Jailer actor and the few glimpses of their tête-à-tête went viral without any bounds. Be it the veteran actor's simplicity or his gesture to felicitate the Kannada filmmaker with a shawl, the internet was quite smitten by the meeting and many even went on to wish for a collaboration in the future!

But that is not all because we now hear that Rajinikanth has gifted Rishab Shetty a gold chain that features a 'Baba' pendant as a lovely token of appreciation. Saying that films like Kantara happen only once in 50 years, the 71-year-old superstar showered love and praise on Rishab and his entire team with his special gift. Rishab, a bona fide Thalaivar fan himself, later said: "I was able to get his blessings too. We discussed Kantara at length and sir was very curious to know how we shot certain sequences and later added that films like Kantara come about only once in 50 years".

Although there have been several great films made in the recent past, it would seem that Kantara has managed to come closest to superstar Rajinikanth's heart. In his earlier tweet, he wrote that he had goosebumps while watching the film. Rishab Shetty is over the moon right now, one would assume!
