Kannada star Rishab Shetty is doing exceptionally well these days as his film Kantara, which he has directed as well as acted in, has turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2022 in India.

And, while the man-of-the-moment continues to impress people with his groundbreaking storytelling and acting prowess, Rishab has been in the news lately for another reason: him taking a subtle dig at Rashmika Mandanna.

Rishab Shetty, who has directed Rashmika Mandanna in her debut film Kirik Party back in 2016, reacted during a recent media outing to one of Rashmika’s older interviews.

It so happened that during an interview with Gulte.com, Rishab was asked about who among a list of four actresses— Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Rashmika Mandanna, Keerthy Suresh and Sai Pallavi—would he like to work with in his next. To which, he said, said, “I decide my actors once I finish my script. I prefer working with newcomers as they come with no barriers.”

Before going on to dropping a major bombshell, revealing, “These actors, I don’t like them. But, I like the work of Sai Pallavi and Samantha.”

Rishab Shetty then appreciated the actresses, calling them ‘true artists’ and one of the finest performers in recent times. However, Rashmika Mandanna did not feature find a mention in his list.

Rishab Shetty reacted this way following Rashmika Mandanna’s previous interview, in a previous with Curly Tales, where she had revealed that she didn’t want to be an actress at first.

At the time, Rashmika Mandanna shared that she had won the title of TOI’s intra-college talent hunt, Fresh Face. “I said okay to the competition as one of my teachers came and told me. I took part and we had state-level competition, and national-level competition and then I ended up getting the title.” Rashmika also added that then her name and photo was used on the front page of The Times of India.

Following this, Rashmika said that she received Rashmika a call from a production house and thought it was a prank call and revealed the entire process leading up to her being cast in the film. Some fans have dug up that old interview and brought to light that the actress had air-quoted the production house and refrained from naming it. Needless to say, the production house in question was co-founder Rakshit Shetty’s Paramvah Studios, a close friend of Rishab Shetty and Rashmika’s former fiancé.

For those of you who aren’t aware, Rashmika Mandanna started her acting career with Kirik Party, which was directed by Rishab Shetty.
