It would seem that Kantara's stellar box office success is gaining new dimensions with each passing day. Having already grossed over Rs. 220 crores worldwide, Rishab Shetty's film is nothing less than a phenomenon today and much of its success must be attributed to the dubbed versions which, following a huge encore by the audience, were released in theatres about two weeks after the original Kannada version came out.

Kantara Telugu, in particular, has received a unanimously positive response all along with the crowds in both the Telugu states thronging cinema halls to experience the magic. Be it the unique coastal setting of the film, leading man Rishab Shetty's superb performance, or the technical finesse, the audiences are being lured by the myriad quirks of the film and the box office results so far have highlighted just this. Following a great start to its theatrical run, Kantara Telugu has now managed to beat multiple original Telugu releases to emerge as a winner during the extended Diwali weekend box office race.

Yes, as reported by andhraboxoffice.com, the dubbed version has grossed as many as Rs. 9 crores between October 21 and 24 to take the top position during the Deepawali holiday stretch. The film had multiple big releases such as Karthi-starrer Sardar, Ori Devuda, Prince, Black Adam, Godfather, and Ginna to contend with but has successfully managed to retain its tight grip on the box office. The spy drama Sardar, which has received positive reviews, stood at the second spot with Rs. 7.5 crores (gross) and Ori Devuda (remake of Oh My Kadavule) took the #3 spot with Rs. 5.5 crores.

At the domestic box office, Kantara Telugu is all set to go past the Rs. 25 crores mark and has achieved the target within two weeks of its release. Produced by Hombale Films and distributed by Allu Aravind, the film is running to packed houses across both the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
