The dubbed releases of Kantara seem to belong to a league of their own as they continue to impress trade analysts at the box office. Kantara Hindi, which released in cinema halls on October 14, has been consistently yielding encouraging results and according to the latest trade reports, the film has collected over Rs. 11 crores in the course of only five days.

Prior to the release of the Hindi version, Kantara Kannada had already managed to charm the audiences in the Hindi belt and it was apparent all along that the dubbed release would do just as well at the box office. Popular exhibitor Manoj Desai too has repeatedly spoken of the film’s excellent run and how he was encouraged to feature the film at his cinema halls purely based on word-of-mouth publicity.

Coming to Kantara Telugu, the film has performed beyond expectations so far and is currently matching stride to stride with the original Kannada version. As reported by the same sources, the Telugu release of the Rishab Shetty starrer is mighty close to the Rs. 15 crores mark (in gross figures) in a matter of only 4 days and has managed to collect over Rs. 5 crores in the last two days alone. The film, which released in theatres on October 15, had a successful opening day with Rs. 3.2 crores (net) and went on to collect as many as Rs. 4.8 crores on the first Sunday to make it a rather remarkable weekend for the makers.

Allu Aravind is associated with the distribution of Kantara in the two Telugu states and the veteran distributor and producer recently spoke of the merit of the film as he thanked the Telugu audiences in the same breath. Actor-Director Rishab Shetty and Kantara’s female lead Sapthami Gowda joined Allu Aravind at the recent success meet held in Hyderabad.

As far as Kantara Tamil is concerned, the film is making slow but definite progress at the box office with collections of approx. Rs. 1.3 crores so far.

All eyes would soon be on Kantara Malayalam which releases on Thursday, October 20. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who has been associated with Hombale Films for quite some time now, will be distributing the Malayalam version of the film.
