Prashanth R Vihari has scored the music for the number in the show that stars Santosh Shobhan, Tina Shilparaj, Vishnu Priya and Venkat
One of the many promising OTT offerings for the Vinayaka Chaturthi festival day was The Baker and the Beauty, a slice-of-life rom-com that premiered on aha. Directed by Jonathan Edwards, the Telugu adaptation of a popular Israeli show by the same name, featured an impressive lineup of actors including Santosh Shobhan, Tina Shilparaj, Vishnu Priya, Venkat, Sai Swetha, Jhansi, Sangeeth Shobhan and Shrikanth Iyyangar. The realistic depiction of the two contrasting lifestyles of the protagonists won many hearts, while the performances received applause too. aha has now released the video version of a song named Kanule Vethike from the show today.
Kanule Vethike is composed by the in-form music director Prashanth R Vihari, who's been associated with many promising Telugu projects lately. The video song takes viewers through the romantic journey of the show's lead characters, a small-time baker Vijay (Santosh Shobhan) and a prominent film star Aira Vasireddy (Tina Shilparaj). From their chance meeting at a high-end restaurant in the city to their romance blossoming in Dubai to the unexpected misunderstandings, you are witness to the many highs and lows in the relationship of the couple. The song mostly has a melancholic vibe to it.
On the whole, the number is like a fond recap of the many happy, sad and emotional moments in the series, where Vijay and Aira go through the motions. The Baker and Beauty is a show that works on various levels, be it the romance or the music or the performances, the classy execution or the humour. Unlike most digital content where it's unlikely for us to revisit a show regardless of how good it is, The Baker and the Beauty merits a repeat viewing to savour it to the fullest. It's unknown if the show will be renewed for a second season.
