Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma will next be seen in the Hindi film titled Zwigato, which is directed by Nandita Das. As a Punjabi, Kapil is known to speak Hindi with a Punjabi accent, but for Zwigato, the actor has changed the way he speaks.

Zwigato is shot in Odisha, and the story revolves around Manas and his wife Pratima, who face tough times after losing their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple hails from North India, most likely Jharkhand. This will be made clear once the film releases in theatres on March 17.

But from the trailer, it is evident that Kapil speaks in a different Hindi accent in the film. So, he was asked at a recent media gathering if it was difficult for him to learn a new dialect to play the character.

Kapil said, "Initially, Nandita ji had told me that if I am not comfortable with the Hindi dialect, we can change the background of the story from Odisha to some other part of the country because there are food delivery executives in every city in India. But I thought that if I did that, I wouldn't learn anything new, so I insisted that she help me learn the dialect."

The actor added, "The beauty of our country is that whenever anyone speaks in Hindi, they speak with a local flavour to it. That is why when a Punjabi speaks Hindi, you can differentiate it from when a Mumbaikar speaks Hindi. That is the beauty of our culture and language: even if we speak the same language, you will know what part of the country the person is from just by the way they speak it. I enjoyed the process and genuinely learned a lot. At times, I think that one does not need to go to a drama school if you are born in India, considering the diversity that we have even in our daily lives."

Produced by Applause Entertainment, Zwigato also stars Shahana Goswami, Gul Panag, Sayani Gupta, and Swanand Kirkire. It releases in theatres on March 17.
